The company
Inkoation Research Sweden AB (trading as G·inkoation) is a Swedish private limited company, organisation number 559599-4418, with its registered office in Stockholm. The change of name is under registration with Bolagsverket. Its registered activity is research and experimental development in the social sciences and humanities (SNI 72200). It has one director, its founder.
The company works in three spaces. Innovation is the commissioned work: proposal engineering for collaborative research, the Science-Meets-Politics and Gender Reversed Bootcamp formats, and a watch on Horizon Europe. Knowledge is the library it builds on. Research is the programme under way, on how competences form in territories under energy transition.
Why a company
Research funders in Europe contract with legal entities. Inkoation exists so that research led from Sweden can be hosted, employed and accounted for in Sweden, with its results owned by the entity that produces them — and so that the engineering around a proposal can be bought as a fixed-scope service rather than improvised at the deadline.
The founder
Ludovic Garattini is a researcher in information and communication sciences (PhD, 2021, Université Paris Cité) and an Associate Researcher at the HT2S laboratory (Histoire des technosciences en société), CNAM, Paris. His doctoral research combined hands-on empirical work in robotic systems, carried out in laboratories across Europe and Far-East Asia, with a philosophical analysis of artificial systems drawing on Gilbert Simondon and Nishida Kitarō.
His research concerns competence formation in territories undergoing energy transition and the use of narrative sciences in social research. He is the author of the Narrative Circles protocol, the Science-Meets-Politics format and the Gender Reversed Bootcamp, and has a career in EU research policy and programme management. He works in English, French and Italian, with working Swedish.
The name
The momenta form begins.
Inchoation is the grammatical aspect of the always-beginning. The spelling drifted at the moment of transfer: ch reads /k/ in English but looks foreign in French and Swedish, so it was written with a k.
That is exactly what happened to the ginkgo in 1712. The difference is that this drift was chosen, dated and recorded. The mark says the same thing: a pause sign and a playback sign, the letters I and K. Pause, return, begin again.
